?6A4 recognizes the core peptide sequence of the breast carcinoma associated mucin coded for by the MUC1 gene. The minimal epitope that 6A4 binds is the eight amino acid sequence SAPDTRPA within the 20 amino acid tandem repeating sequence of the mucin core. The immunogen was as a synthetic MUC-1 peptide, KLH conjugate.
